Child Care Services

ONC Child Care Services

Our goal is to help parents of Alaska Native and Native American Children afford reliable, quality child care while they:

  • Engage in qualifying subsistence activities
  • Work part-time or full-time jobs
  • Are in school or training part-time or full-time
  • Are looking for work
  • Children must be Alaska Native and/or American Indian, provide documentation
  • Immunizations must be up-to-date
  • Gross family income must be at or below the current 85% State Median Income threshold

ONC knows that finding reliable, affordable child care service is a barrier to working, going to school, or finding work to become self-reliant. We would like to help our people become successful and independent.

If you love children and child care, ONC’s Child Care Services also approves and trains both relative and non-relative Child Care Providers. This service allows for providers to have steady, reliable income.

  • Applicants and all individuals 16 years of age and older, who live in the home where child care is to be provided must pass a criminal background check.
  • All immunizations must be up-to-date (relative providers may be exempt from this requirement).
  • Prior to approval, department staff will do a Health and Safety Inspection of the place where child care is being provided.
